The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday allowed police to keep the accused in custody for five days in connection with the murder of trader Amir Awan

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday allowed police to keep the accused in custody for five days in connection with the murder of trader Amir Awan.

Judicial Magistrate, Ehtesham Muqarrab heard the case and reviewed the request submitted by the police. Investigators had requested for an eight-day physical remand to question the suspects and recover the weapon used in the crime as well as stolen items linked to the case.

After hearing both sides, the court approved a five-day physical remand instead of the requested period.

The judge directed the police to present the accused again after the completion of the remand for further proceedings.

According to the police, the investigation was ongoing and efforts were being made to recover evidence that might help establish the sequence of events.

The case had been registered at Shahzad Town Police Station. The court adjourned the hearing until April 6, when the suspects would be brought back before the court and the investigation progress would be reviewed.
