Traders across small and large markets in the city have expressed anger after a 15-day closure of goods transport, shops, and markets, warning of an impending crisis if restrictions are not lifted.

They have demanded that markets, transport terminals, and goods transport be reopened next week, stating that continued closures have devastated small traders and pushed them into debt.

Traders warned that if goods transport is not restored within 48 hours, a severe shortage of sugar, pulses, and essential commodities will occur.

Shopkeepers said they have only three to five days' stock of essential items left, and shortages along with price hikes are expected from Sunday or Monday.

Sheikh Yousaf, president of the Merchant Association of Nirankari Bazaar, said traders have been financially ruined and burdened with debts, with creditors now pressuring them.
