KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Transporters in Kohat have assured the district administration that fares would not be increased despite a recent rise in petroleum prices dur to financial problems of people.
The assurance was given in a meeting that was chaired by Commissioner Kohat Division and Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Syed Motasim Billah Shah. The meeting was also attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (F&P) Syed Aamir Ali Shah, Assistant Secretary RTA Shaukat Zaman,Traffic In-charge Arab Jan, transport union representatives and terminal managers.
Participants held detailed discussions on fare adjustments in light of the rising petrol and diesel prices but agreed unanimously to maintain existing fares and strictly adhere to the officially notified fare list.
Officials said similar meetings would be convened across all districts of the division to raise awareness among transporters and commuters with a campaign to ensure transparency in fare implementation and prevent overcharging.
Following the meeting, commissioner visited various transport terminals in Kohat, where he interacted with transporters and passengers to assess the situation. He directed the operators to comply fully with the government-approved fares and refrain from fare increases. He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritizing public relief while maintaining discipline in the transport sector.
