PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The closure of major highways from Peshawar to Punjab continues, causing severe difficulties for passengers, transporters and the supply chain across the region.
According to reports received on Monday, due to the complete closure of the motorway and partial blockage of the GT Road, traveling from Peshawar to Rawalpindi, Lahore, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swabi has become nearly impossible.
The ongoing motorway shutdown and disruptions on GT Road have paralyzed the traffic system throughout the province. The travel situation is not only wasting time but also increasing public hardship day by day.
Passengers traveling abroad have also been heavily affected, with several flights reportedly facing delays due to the road closures.
It is important to note that administrative matters have also been impacted due to political protest in the province. For the past four days daily life routine has badly been affected adding to the difficulties and miseries of the general public.
During the motorway and GT Road closures, incidents of clashes between passengers and protestors have also been reported, further worsening the situation.
Meanwhile, transporters have announced an increase in fares, adding financial pressure on travelers.
Although authorities have indicated that steps are being considered to control the situation, however, at present, traveling has become a major challenge for both passengers and transporters.
