Tributes paid to Pakistan’s nuclear achievement on Youm-e-Takbeer

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Chief Executive of Dolphin Communication, Asma Butt, and President of Anjuman Tajran Liaquat Road Rawalpindi, Sheikh Abdul Waheed, on Sunday paid tribute to Pakistan’s scientists, armed forces and national leadership on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, describing it as a landmark in the country's history.

In her message, Asma Butt said Youm-e-Takbeer symbolised Pakistan’s unity, sovereignty and defensive strength.

She said the nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, made Pakistan the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and demonstrated the nation’s determination to safeguard its freedom and national interests.

She paid tribute to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistani scientists and the armed forces for their contributions to the achievement.

Asma Butt said Youm-e-Takbeer was not only a celebration of a historic accomplishment but also a reminder of the importance of national unity, stability and progress.

She congratulated the nation on the occasion and prayed for Pakistan’s peace, security and prosperity.

In a separate statement, Sheikh Abdul Waheed described May 28, 1998, as a golden and memorable day in Pakistan’s history, when the nation demonstrated unity, determination and courage before the world.

He said the occasion proved Pakistan possessed the capability to defend its freedom, sovereignty and national security.

Describing Youm-e-Takbeer as a symbol of national dignity, strategic stability and invincible strength, he said the achievement earned Pakistan the distinction of becoming the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and thwarted hostile designs against the country.

Sheikh said the day conveyed a message of national solidarity, unity and devotion to the homeland.

He said the nation paid tribute to its armed forces, scientists and all patriotic individuals whose sacrifices and efforts had strengthened Pakistan’s defence capability.

Expressing confidence in the country's future, he said the Pakistani nation would remain united in confronting internal and external challenges and continue striving for security, progress and prosperity while upholding the spirit of Youm-e-Takbeer.
