WASHINGTON, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) US President Donald Trump said Monday Iran has not notified Washington that it is suspending peace negotiations, but indicated he was prepared to wait if communications had stopped.

“They haven’t informed us of that,” Trump told NBC. “It doesn’t mean we’re going to go and start dropping bombs all over there…We’ll keep the blockade.”

Earlier, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran had halted message exchanges with the US because of Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon.

The report also said Iran and its allies were considering measures to completely block the Strait of Hormuz and activate “other fronts”.

There has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a full ceasefire in Lebanon was an “essential condition” for any agreement with the US, adding that a violation of the US-Iran ceasefire on one front would be considered a violation “on all fronts”.

“If they don’t want to talk, that’s OK with me,” Trump told NBC News. “I think it’s fine. I don’t particularly want to talk either. We talk too much.”

“It’s an appropriate thing to say, because they’re better negotiators than they are fighters,” he said. “But they haven’t informed us of that.”y

In the latter Truth Social post on Monday, Trump said that he had a “very productive” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the operation in Lebanon.

“There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” he wrote.

He said he also spoke with Hezbollah “through highly placed Representatives.”

“They agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump wrote.

Iran accused the Trump administration of violating the ceasefire over Israel’s military operations against the Hezbollah group in Lebanon. Tehran said it will keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and stop exchanging messages with the U.S.

Netanyahu ordered attacks on Lebanese neighborhoods controlled by Hezbollah on Monday.

Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, maintained on social media that Lebanon is included in the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S.

“Any violation of this ceasefire on one front shall be considered a violation of it across all fronts,” he wrote on X. “The United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any breach of the truce.”

The president on Friday met in the White House Situation Room to make a “final determination” on an agreement sent from Iran that would extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but no final decision came out of the meeting.
