President Trump says while deployment of US ground forces may not be necessary, it remains a possibility

WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 6th, 2026) Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying the middle East conflict should be resolved “in days, not weeks,” and cautioned that failure to reach an agreement could result in widespread destruction across Iran.

In an interview with ABC news, President Trump stated that while the deployment of US ground forces may not be necessary, it remains a possibility. “A deal could happen tomorrow, or it may not happen at all,” he said.

He reiterated that the conflict must end swiftly, warning that if no agreement is reached, “very little would be left” of Iran.

Earlier, Trump had also threatened “serious consequences” if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route that has been closed since late February following the escalation of tensions.

In a statement on social media, the US president used strong language against Iran and warned that civilian infrastructure could be targeted if the strait remains closed. He further cautioned that Iran would face severe repercussions, adding that “life will be made hell” if the demands are not met.

The remarks came ahead of the expiry of a 48-hour deadline reportedly set by Washington for Tehran.

In another interview, Trump said that if Iran does not move toward an agreement soon, the United States is considering broader military options, including targeting bridges and power plants and potentially taking control of oil resources.

He also claimed that some Iranian officials are engaged in negotiations and suggested that a deal could be reached as early as Monday, adding that current negotiators have been granted limited general amnesty.
