US president claims that a decades-long period marked by conflict, instability and loss of life could be nearing an end

WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 7th, 2026) US President Donald Trump issued a renewed warning to Iran, describing the current situation as a critical turning point as his latest deadline expired early Tuesday (Pakistan time).

In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that a decades-long period marked by conflict, instability, and loss of life could be nearing an end. He suggested that developments unfolding now could bring about a significant and irreversible shift.

The US president said he did not favor such an outcome but indicated that events may move in that direction. He also alluded to the possibility of a change in Iran’s leadership, expressing hope that a different and less extreme system could emerge.

Trump described the moment as one of the most important in recent history and expressed goodwill toward the people of Iran.

The latest remarks come after a series of deadlines and warnings issued by the U.S. president in recent weeks. On March 21, he gave Iran 48 hours to reopen a key maritime route, warning of potential strikes on energy infrastructure. Shortly afterward, he announced a temporary delay, citing ongoing diplomatic contacts.

On March 27, the deadline was extended by 10 days, followed by another 48-hour ultimatum on April 3. On April 5, Trump reiterated his warning, indicating that key infrastructure could be targeted.

The repeated ultimatums and escalating rhetoric have heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns about possible further developments in the ongoing standoff between Washington and Tehran.
