A nine-member high-level delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by its President Kadir Özkaya, visited Lahore’s historic sites and lauded the city’s rich cultural heritage and ongoing conservation efforts, here on Wednesday
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) A nine-member high-level delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by its President Kadir Özkaya, visited Lahore’s historic sites and lauded the city’s rich cultural heritage and ongoing conservation efforts, here on Wednesday.
The delegation included Justice Ridvan Güleç, Justice Recai Akyel, Secretary General Murat Azakli, Chief Rapporteur-Judge Abdullah Çelik, Rapporteur-Judges Gizem Ceren Demir Kosar, Özge Ulukaya, Sümeyye Kocaman, and Security Officer Ahmet Durmaz.
The visit commenced at Delhi Gate in the Walled City of Lahore, where the delegation was received by Director General Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) Najm-us-Saqib, along with Additional Director Ahmad Farooq and Deputy Director Asghar Hussain. The delegation was briefed on ongoing restoration and beautification projects aimed at preserving the historic urban fabric of the Walled City.
The delegates toured the historic Wazir Khan Mosque, where they offered Fateha at the shrine of Hazrat Muhammad Ishaq Ghazroni. They were given a detailed briefing on the mosque’s beautiful design, including its wall paintings (naqsh-o-nigar), tile work, and traditional methods like kashi kari and gola-e-tina, which they greatly appreciated.
The delegation also visited the Shahi Hammam, where officials highlighted its Mughal-era architectural significance and the extensive restoration work carried out by WCLA.
Later, the delegation visited the mausoleum of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, where they offered Fateha and paid tribute to his intellectual and philosophical contributions to the Muslim world.
The delegates also took photographs to commemorate their visit.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the iconic Badshahi Mosque, where they were received by its Imam Abdul Khabir Azad. He briefed the visitors on the mosque’s historical and religious significance, as well as its unique architectural design. He also demonstrated the mosque’s natural sound amplification system by reciting verses from the Holy Quran, which the delegation listened to with keen interest. The delegation toured different sections of the mosque and appreciated its grandeur and architectural excellence. They also walked through the streets of the Walled City, interacted with local shopkeepers, and engaged warmly with residents, appreciating the cultural vibrancy and hospitality of Lahore’s people. The delegation offered Maghrib prayers at the Badshahi Mosque, led by Abdul Khabir Azad.
Later, the delegation visited the historic Lahore Fort, where they were received by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, in the presence of Justice Aamir Farooq. A formal dinner was hosted in honour of the distinguished guests at the Diwan-e-Aam within the fort, attended by senior members of the judiciary.
At the conclusion of the visit, DG WCLA Najm-us-Saqib presented the delegation with a commemorative photo album featuring Lahore’s historic landmarks.
The Turkish delegation expressed deep appreciation for Lahore’s cultural heritage, conservation efforts, and the warmth and hospitality extended by its people.
