Two arrested over misleading emergency helpline with fake robbery call

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) The police have intensified action against individuals involved in making bogus emergency calls and arrested two suspects on charge of falsely reporting a robbery incident to mislead law enforcement authorities.

Police spokesman said here on Tuesday that Khurarianwala police arrested accused Owais and Sagheer Ahmad after they were found involved in making a fake emergency call to Police Helpline 15, claiming a robbery had taken place.

Upon receiving the call, a police team immediately rushed to the reported location. However, after verification and inquiry on the spot, it was revealed that no robbery had occurred rather the matter was in fact related to a personal dispute and exchange of arguments over financial transactions.

Following the investigation, the police took both individuals into custody and registered a case against them while further legal proceedings were underway, he added.
