Two members inter-district robbers gang arrested after firing with police in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) Two members of an inter-district robbery gang were arrested in injured condition following an exchange of fire with a police team in the Naseerabad area, police said.

According to police on Sunday, three motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire on a police party after officers attempted to stop them during routine checking. Police retaliated, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, identified as Danish and Muhammad Hussain, while a third accomplice managed to escape.

Police recovered a motorcycle and an iPhone that had allegedly been snatched from citizens at gunpoint a few days earlier. Weapons were also seized from the suspects.

The investigators said that Danish was a proclaimed offender wanted in a robbery case registered in Islamabad.

The arrested suspects are reportedly involved in numerous cases of robbery, vehicle theft and other criminal activities in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and have a previous criminal record.

Senior police officers reached the scene immediately after the incident. The injured suspects were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while forensic evidence was collected from the site.

A search operation has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Commending the police team for their response and successful recovery of stolen property, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani praised the efforts of the SP Potohar, SDPO Cantt and the Naseerabad police team. He made it clear that it was the prime duty of police to protect lives and properties of people.
