Two wanted criminals arrested in separate police encounters in Chiniot; accomplices escape

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) Police arrested two proclaimed offenders with extensive criminal records during separate encounters in Chiniot district on Wednesday, while their accomplices managed to flee. Authorities have launched search operations to apprehend the absconding suspects.

According to a police spokesperson, the first encounter occurred within the jurisdiction of Langrana Police Station when SHO Inspector Sarfraz and his team came across four suspicious individuals during routine patrolling. Upon spotting the police party, the suspects allegedly opened fire. During the exchange, a bullet struck the bulletproof jacket of Constable Akram Arif, who remained unharmed. Police retaliated in self-defense and succeeded in arresting one suspect in an injured condition. The accused, reportedly involved in 35 criminal cases of various nature, was shifted to THQ Hospital Bhawana for medical treatment.

In a separate incident on Sahiwal Road, Sub-Inspector Aurangzeb and his team attempted to stop three suspects riding a motorcycle. The suspects allegedly resorted to firing at the police party and attempted to escape. SHO Chenab Nagar Police Station Inspector Saifullah, accompanied by additional personnel, reached the scene and joined the operation. Following an exchange of fire, police arrested one suspect in critical condition, while another accomplice managed to flee.

Police said the arrested suspect was wanted in 32 criminal cases and was shifted to THQ Hospital Lalian for treatment. Search operations are continuing in the respective areas to trace and arrest the escaped suspects, while legal proceedings against the detained accused are being carried out in accordance with the law.
