FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) Prominent religious leaders of the Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) lauded the constructive role of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt in efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Gulf region, calling for an accelerated diplomatic push to ensure lasting peace and regional stability in the middle East.
In a joint statement on Sunday, the council’s leadership emphasized that peace in the Middle East was imperative for global stability and economic balance, urging all stakeholders to intensify efforts to resolve conflicts through dialogue.
They noted that Iran’s willingness to engage in negotiations including its openness to talks in Islamabad reflected growing confidence in Pakistan’s diplomatic credibility.
They also called for an end to “baseless and fabricated propaganda” on social media, stressing the need for responsible discourse during sensitive geopolitical developments.
Chairman UCP Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi along with other leaders including Allama Shah Nawaz Farooqi, Sahibzada Pir Jee Khalid Mahmood Qasmi, Allama Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, Mian Muhammad Tayyab Advocate, Qari Muhammad Mushtaq Lahori, Maulana Muhammad Bilal, Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Zia, Maulana Muhammad Azam Farooqi, Maulana Muhammad Aamir Ashraf, Maulana Obaidullah Haideri and Maulana Nauman Darkhwasti underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim world.
They expressed deep reverence for Saudi Arabia, describing it as a center of spiritual attachment for Muslims. They reaffirmed unwavering support for the Kingdom, highlighting its longstanding cooperation with Pakistan in defense and economic sectors including petroleum assistance.
Sahibzada Zahid Qasmi said that recent global conflicts had exposed the limitations of Western leadership and were leading to new political, economic and strategic alignments in Asia.
He warned that burden of such conflicts was increasingly being shifted onto ordinary people, resulting in rising inflation and widespread public anxiety.
He urged the government to provide relief to citizens affected by economic hardship as prolonged tensions and war-like conditions had significantly contributed to inflationary pressures in Pakistan.
The religious leaders stressed that sustainable peace remained the only viable solution to the prevailing economic and geopolitical challenges.
They called for urgent and coordinated international efforts to end hostilities particularly between the United States and Iran to restore stability in the region.
