LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) A delegation of the Punjab Muttahida Ulema board on Thursday visited the Central Control Room of the Punjab Home Department and held a meeting with Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi to discuss security arrangements for Muharram.
The delegation was led by Muttahida Ulema Board Chairman, Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori and included religious scholars from various schools of thought. Pakistan Ulema Council ChairmanHafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi also attended the visit.
Other members of the delegation included Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi, Hafiz Muhammad Umar Madani, Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Dr Shafiq Khan Pasruri, Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Dr Hafiz Hassan Madani, Dr Zulfiqar and Zafar Abbas Khawaja.
Additional Secretary Internal Security Maham Asif Malik, Additional Secretary Special Initiatives Abdul Rauf and other relevant officials were also present.
The delegation reviewed the live monitoring of 9th Muharram processions and Majalis as well as the cyber patrolling system being operated from the Punjab Home Department's Central Control Room.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahmad Javed said the Punjab government was taking all possible measures to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram across the province.
He said more than 37,000 Majalis and over 9,000 processions were being monitored through a live surveillance system, while the Central Control Room of the Home Department remained operational round the clock and was receiving reports from all districts of Punjab.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The Home secretary said foolproof security arrangements had been made for all Majalis and processions across the province and appreciated the role of religious scholars in promoting peace and harmony.
He said the ulema were playing a key role in maintaining law and order by spreading the message of love, tolerance and patience.
Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori said the Muttahida Ulema Board fully supported the Punjab government's efforts to promote inter-sect harmony and maintain peace during Muharram.
He said scholars belonging to all schools of thought were standing shoulder to shoulder with the state to strengthen unity and social cohesion. He added that before the start of Muharram, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and the Ulema Peace Caravan had visited various districts of Punjab to promote harmony and brotherhood.
Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi paid tribute to the Punjab Home Department and law enforcement agencies for their efforts to maintain peace during Muharram.
He said religious scholars were working closely with security institutions to ensure a peaceful environment and appreciated the Home Department's cyber patrolling cell for taking effective action against sectarian content on social media.
At the conclusion of the visit, special prayers were offered for Pakistan's progress, security, prosperity and lasting peace.
