Ulema pledge unconditional support for peace, religious harmony during Muharram

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jun, 2026) The religious scholars and leaders from various schools of thought have pledged to maintain religious harmony, discourage hate speech and ensure peaceful coexistence during Muharram-ul-Haram while extending unconditional cooperation to the Punjab government and district administration for the maintenance of law & order.

They expressed this commitment while addressing a seminar on the martyrdom and services of Hazrat Usman bin Affan (May Allah be please with him) organized under the aegis of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Islamic Research Center Faisalabad.

Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi Chairman Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) presided over the event while the participants resolved that the message of unity, tolerance and peace would be promoted from mosques and religious platforms in accordance with the code of conduct outlined in Paigham-e-Pakistan and all stakeholders would work together to preserve communal harmony during Muharram.

The seminar was attended by a large number of religious scholars, clerics and peace committee members including Sahibzada Pir Jee Khalid Mahmood Qasmi, Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Maulana Yousaf Farooqi, Hafiz Maqbool Ahmad, Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan, Pir Siddiq-ur-Rehman, Maulana Abdul Samad Muaz and other scholars and religious leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi said that Hazrat Usman Ghani (May Allah be please with him), compiler of the Holy Quran and the third rightly guided Caliph, was a symbol of modesty, integrity and noble character.

The era of his caliphate serves as a guiding example for rulers and leaders in every age, he added.

Sahibzada Pir Jee Khalid Mahmood Qasmi said that Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) endured immense hardships for the cause of islam and was bestowed with the unique honor of marrying two daughters of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) successively, a distinction unmatched in Islamic history.

Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, member of Council of Islamic Ideology, said that Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) remained among the earliest companions of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) and exemplified generosity, modesty and unwavering commitment to Islam.

Maulana Yousaf Farooqi said that Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) was among those companions whose virtues have been praised in Islamic teachings and who received glad tidings of Paradise from the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) on numerous occasions.

Speaking on the occasion, Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan said that the martyrdom of Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) remains a source of sorrow for the Muslim Ummah, while his services to Islam, including the expansion of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, the purchase of the well of Rumah and support for the expedition of Tabuk, continue to inspire Muslims around the world.

Pir Siddiq-ur-Rehman highlighted that Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) repeatedly performed administrative responsibilities in Madinah during the absence of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), demonstrating his trustworthiness and leadership qualities.

Maulana Abdul Samad Muaz said that Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) ranks among the most distinguished personalities of Islam and was one of the foremost believers and closest companions of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him).

Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Siddiqui observed that respect and reverence for the companions of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) and the Ahl-e-Bait form an integral part of the faith of Muslims.

Meanwhile, Maulana Muhammad Azam Farooq announced that the period from 1st to 10th Muharram would be observed as “Ashra-e-Farooq-o-Hussain and Ashra-e-Aman” to promote peace, unity and inter-sect harmony across the country.

The participants reiterated their commitment to promote mutual respect, discourage sectarianism and work closely with government institutions to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram-ul-Haram 2026.
