UOS ranked among Pakistan’s top public sector research universities in HEC Evaluation 2025

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The University of Sargodha (UOS) has secured a place among Pakistan’s top-tier public sector research universities in the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Research Productivity Evaluation 2025, marking a major milestone in the institution’s academic and research journey.

According to the evaluation results announced by the Higher Education Commission share by the spokesperson for the UOS here on Thursday, the UOS ranked 3rd in Punjab and among the top nine public sector universities in the country for research productivity.

University officials stated that UoS achieved remarkable progress by increasing its score from 30 marks in 2023 to 70.5 marks in 2025, registering an impressive 135 percent growth within just two years.

The achievement has been attributed to the visionary leadership of the university’s administration, particularly the Vice Chancellor, along with the dedicated efforts of faculty members, researchers, and academic departments.

The university outperformed several prominent national institutions in the latest ranking, including Quaid-i-Azam University, International Islamic University Islamabad, COMSATS University Islamabad, University of the Punjab, Government College University Lahore, Lahore University of Management Sciences, University of Management and Technology, Bahria University, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Government College University Faisalabad, and University of Karachi.

Academics and education observers have described the ranking as a reflection of the university’s rapidly improving research environment, increased scholarly output, and growing international recognition.
