UoS syndicate approves key reforms to boost governance,academic quality

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) Vice Chancellor(VC) Prof Dr.Qaisar Abbas on Tuesday chaired the 73rd meeting of the University of Sargodha (UoS) Syndicate,which approved a series of measures aimed at improving academic standards and strengthening institutional governance.

The Syndicate endorsed recommendations put forward by the Selection Board,Finance and Planning Committee and Academic Council.

It also approved the appointment of two members to the Selection board and named a chairman for the Affiliation Committee.

The forum further agreed to adopt policies of the Higher education Commission (HEC) Pakistan after detailed deliberations.

The meeting was attended by prominent academic and political figures,including former HEC chairman Prof Dr.

Mukhtar Ahmed,Punjab Higher Education Commission chairman Prof.Dr.Iqrar Ahmed Khan and Government College University Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr.Shujaat Omar Chaudhary.

MPA Mansoor Azam Sandhu and Asim Sher Maeken were also present.

Among others in attendance were Additional Secretary (Universities) HED Punjab Zubaida Azhar,Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr.Masood Sarwar Awan,Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof Dr Amir Ali as well as representatives from the law department and affiliated colleges.

Speaking on the occasion,VC said the Syndicate was committed to strengthening governance and institutional development through effective policy implementation to maintain the university’s position as a leading educational hub in the region.
