A US court has upheld FIFA’s ban on displaying Iran’s pre-revolution flag during World Cup matches, allowing only the official national flag.

According to details, the Los Angeles County court ruled in a case that supported FIFA’s restriction against raising the deposed Iranian Shah-era flag at stadiums.

The court’s decision states that only Iran’s official (current) national flag will be allowed to be displayed during World Cup matches.

It is noted that the symbolic flag linked to Iran’s former monarchy resembles the current flag but includes the lion and sun emblem, which is associated with the pre-1979 Islamic Revolution era.
