US extends ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request

President Trump announces to hold attacks until Iran's leaders and representatives come up with a unified proposal and discussions are concluded  

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 22nd, 2026) At the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, US President Donald Trump has announced to extend the ceasefire with Iran.

In a social media post, he announced to hold attacks until Iran's leaders and representatives come up with a unified proposal and discussions are concluded.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for accepting Pakistan's request to extend the ceasefire with Iran.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister on his personal behalf and on behalf of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir sincerely thanked President Trump for graciously accepting our request to extend the ceasefire to allow ongoing diplomatic efforts to take their course.

Shehbaz Sharif said with the trust and confidence reposed in, Pakistan shall continue its earnest efforts for negotiated settlement of conflict.

He sincerely hoped that both sides would continue to observe the ceasefire and be able to conclude a comprehensive 'Peace Deal' during the second round of talks scheduled at Islamabad for a permanent end to the conflict.
