US proposals include reopening Strait of Hormuz, enhanced monitoring of Iran by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 25th, 2026) A US news agency has claimed that Washington has presented a 15-point proposal to Iran that includes dismantling its nuclear and missile programmes as part of broader negotiations.
The proposals were conveyed to Tehran by two Pakistani and one Egyptian official. A Pakistani official told the agency that the package also includes potential easing of sanctions on Iran.
The report further stated that the US proposals include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, enhanced monitoring of Iran by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and provisions for civilian nuclear cooperation between Iran and the United States.
Separately, a senior Pakistani official reaffirmed that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and defence remains firm and unequivocal. The official added that Islamabad is engaging with all parties to help resolve the middle East conflict.
Pakistani and Egyptian officials indicated that a meeting between Iranian and US representatives could take place in Pakistan on Friday.
An Egyptian official said the 15-point framework represents a comprehensive ceasefire arrangement, which also includes restrictions on Iran’s support for armed groups.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that talks between the United States and Iran are likely to be held in Islamabad this week. He noted that the negotiations would go beyond the nuclear issue to include missiles, Iran-linked militias, and broader security guarantees.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official confirmed that Pakistan has delivered US proposals to Tehran and said that Pakistan and Türkiye are being considered as potential venues for the talks, adding that Türkiye has also played a role in efforts to end the conflict.
