Use of plastic bags less than 75 microns thick a crime

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The Environment Department is continuing its public awareness and communication campaign against plastic bags.

Parliamentary Secretary Environment Kanwal Liaquat met traders of Shadman Market. DG Environment Imran Hamid Sheikh and relevant officers were also present in the meeting.

Kanwal Liaquat said that action will be taken against the use of substandard and illegal plastic bags.

She said the use of plastic bags with a thickness of less than 75 microns is a crime under the law.

The use of plastic bags is causing various diseases and health problems.

The entire society has to play its responsibility to prevent plastic bags. The teams of the Environment Department are active across Punjab. The DG Environment said that the traders of Shadman Market are being given a five-day deadline, after five days, action will be taken according to the law.
