BEIJING, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Dar provided an update on the situation in Iran and Pakistan's views, thanked China for supporting Pakistan's mediation efforts, and said that ceasefire and renewed peace are the common aspiration of all parties, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry here on Friday.
This is a crucial time to restart peace talks, and the international community should encourage the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table and find an effective way to achieve peace. Pakistan and China share the same goals and positions on this issue. Pakistan looks forward to working with China to play a positive role in promoting peace and ending the fighting.
Wang Yi reiterated China's principled position, saying that China and Pakistan are strategic cooperative partners supporting and trusting each other, and both hold an objective and fair position on this war and have the same overall view.
China appreciates Pakistan's unremitting efforts to reduce the situation and supports Pakistan in continuing to play its role as a mediator. Starting peace talks will not be easy, but only when they are started will more casualties and losses be avoided, the fighting will be prevented from spreading and normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will be restored.
China is willing to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with Pakistan, make efforts to promote peace and end the fighting, and jointly work for regional peace and stability.
The two sides agreed to work together to promote a ceasefire, resume peace talks, ensure the security of non-military targets and waterways, and support the United Nations in playing a major role.
The two sides also exchanged views on the border conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
