Wanted suspect injured, arrested in police shootout; two accomplices escape

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) A wanted suspect has been arrested in an injured condition following a shootout with police in the Chenab Nagar area of the district, while two of his accomplices managed to escape,the police said on Monday.

According to police, Sub-Inspector Aurangzeb and his team were on routine patrol when they signaled three men riding a motorcycle to stop. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police.

Station House Officer (SHO) Saifullah, accompanied by members of the elite force and additional police personnel, arrived at the scene, after which police returned the fire .

During a subsequent search operation, the police arrested one suspect who had been wounded, allegedly by gunfire from his own accomplices during the exchange.

The officers also recovered an illegal weapon and the motorcycle used by the suspects.

The police said the arrested man was wanted in connection with 19 criminal cases involving various offences.

A search operation has been started in the area to apprehend the two remaining suspects , the police added.
