War on drugs a national duty; anti-narcotics chief reaffirms resolve to intensify crackdown

Riyadh, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The General Director of Anti-Narcotics of Saudi Arabia, Major General Mohammed bin Said Al-Qarni, has reaffirmed his firm resolve to accelerate ongoing operations against the menace of drugs, stating that the war against drug smuggling and its prevention is a shared national and social responsibility.

The message was released by the Saudi General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics on the occasion of the "Gulf Anti-Narcotics Week" (June 21–26) and the "World Day Against Drugs" (June 26).

In his special address, Major General Al-Qarni clarified that the challenge of narcotics is no longer merely an individual threat; rather, it has become a real danger to the peace, stability, and development of society, requiring unified ranks and well-coordinated, vital efforts to combat it.

He emphasized that raising social awareness is the Primary step toward preventing drug trafficking and its proliferation. In this regard, mutual cooperation among families, educational institutions, security sectors, and other relevant bodies will foster a supportive environment essential to safeguarding the new generation from falling into this quagmire, while playing a key role in raising them along the right lines.

He described awareness campaigns and preventive measures as the first line of defense for the protection of the homeland and society.

The Anti-Narcotics Chief further stated that the humanitarian aspect cannot be overlooked in this fight. Comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programs are being provided for those caught in the trap of drug addiction, enabling them to return to a normal, healthy life and actively contribute to their community.

He renewed the pledge and promise to continue and intensify all efforts with absolute determination and resolve to preserve the security of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens, while further strengthening the sense of responsibility across society.
