LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) In line with the vision of Punjab government, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA)
Lahore was actively engaged in public service, accelerating its preparations ahead
of the monsoon season.
A key meeting was held under the chairmanship of WASA Managing Director, Ghaffran
Ahmed, to review pre-monsoon arrangements and ensure effective drainage management
across the city.
During the meeting, strict instructions were issued to ensure the timely cleaning
of all drains, sewerage lines, and manholes so that the flow of rainwater remains
uninterrupted during heavy rainfall.
The WASA MD directed that all de-watering sets and machinery be kept fully
operational and ready for immediate use in case of emergencies. He also
emphasized ensuring the functionality of all generators under all circumstances.
Special focus was placed on deploying additional machinery and staff in low-lying
areas of the city to prevent urban flooding.
All Directors, XENs, and SDOs have
been directed to remain present in the field and continuously monitor drainage
operations.
To tackle any emergency during the monsoon season, a comprehensive emergency
response plan is to be kept ready, he added.
The MD further directed that public complaints must be addressed promptly.
Officials were also directed to maintain close coordination with the district
administration and other relevant departments. All officers were required to
submit daily performance reports and keep the management informed of progress.
To raise public awareness, banners will be displayed at all major drains, and strict
action, including heavy fines, would be imposed on those found disposing of
waste into drainage system.
