WASA to upgrade pumping machinery at disposal stations with Japanese Technology

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to upgrade pumping machinery at its disposal stations with modern and high-efficiency equipment to improve performance and reduce electricity consumption.

Chairing a meeting held with the representatives of a Japanese company, Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza gave a detailed briefing to Japanese delegation on the efficiency, performance standards and energy-saving potential of the proposed pumping machinery.

He said that WASA had resolved to modernize its pumping systems at disposal stations by introducing machinery capable of delivering optimal performance while significantly cutting electricity expenses.

Reduction in operational costs particularly energy consumption was essential for improving overall efficiency of the agency, he added.

He proposed that the Japanese company should initiate the project on pilot basis by installing new pumping machinery at one or two disposal stations.

After closely monitoring of the performance and evaluating results, the upgradation would be extended to other disposal stations across the city, he added.

Representatives of Japanese company responded positively to the proposal and assured that work on installing pumping machinery at selected stations under the pilot project would begin soon.
