Wastewater treatment project set for early start after security clearance: Commissioner

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has reviewed security arrangements at the foreign-funded wastewater treatment project at Vasiran Khanuana and said that construction work would commence soon after completion of all required safety measures.

He visited the project site and assessed security protocols to ensure smooth execution of the development scheme.

He said that the project, with a treatment capacity of 33 million gallons per day, would significantly reduce environmental and air pollution upon completion. The initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz to provide a healthier environment and clean water facilities to the public, he added.

He said that reduction in pollution levels would positively impact the quality of life, terming the project a landmark initiative for public welfare and a unique addition to urban development framework of the city.

Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza and Project Director briefed about the progress and preparedness, highlighting measures taken to secure the site before the start of construction activities.

Regional Police Officer Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir and City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar were also present on the occasion.
