Wattoo visits Bangladesh HC, discusses bilateral ties with envoy

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Federal Minister for Water Resources Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo visited the High Commission of Bangladesh on Wednesday and held a detailed meeting with High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

The minister conveyed Pakistan’s heartfelt congratulations and good wishes on the peaceful and democratic transfer of power in Bangladesh, reaffirming Islamabad’s desire to further strengthen ties with Dhaka.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional situation, and avenues to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo underscored that Pakistan attaches significant importance to its relationship with Bangladesh, describing the ties as being anchored in shared faith, history, and cultural affinities.

He expressed optimism that the friendship between the two nations would grow stronger and serve as a model of regional cooperation.

The Minister further highlighted that Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep-rooted historical connections and stressed that there is considerable potential to expand cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, trade, and institutional collaboration.

Bangladeshi diplomat Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan stated that the people of Bangladesh are committed to democracy and transparency, adding that his country remains focused on reforms and sustainable national development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral engagement and exploring new avenues for partnership across multiple sectors.
