'Waziristan Peace Festival' concludes after month-long sporting events

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2026) A month-long 'Waziristan Peace Festival 2026', organized by Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South), concluded successfully after bringing together thousands of young athletes in a series of sporting events aimed at promoting peace, unity and healthy engagement across the region.

The festival featured 219 cricket, football and volleyball matches at 23 venues across Waziristan, with more than 4,000 players representing 201 teams.

The large turnout of participants and enthusiastic public response highlighted the success of the initiative in encouraging youth participation in positive activities while fostering a stronger sporting culture.

The closing ceremony was held in Wana and attended by tribal elders, local dignitaries, civil administration officials and a large number of young people.

During the event, tribal elders and the Inspector General Frontier Core South distributed prizes among the winning teams and outstanding players in recognition of their performances.
