LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said on Friday that wheat harvesting was underway across the province, along with the registration of farmers for wheat procurement.

He said this while presiding over a review meeting on wheat harvesting held at Agriculture House here.

He directed field formations to provide technical advice to farmers regarding harvesting under the prevailing circumstances.

He further stated that, according to initial estimates, the wheat production target for Punjab province would be achieved easily.

Iftikhar Ali Sahoo added that wheat harvesting had been completed on approximately 40% of the cultivated area in Punjab. He emphasized that, under the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister, wheat would be procured from small farmers on a priority basis.

For this purpose, 233 procurement centres had been made fully operational across Punjab, he added.
