MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Strong windstorms caused widespread disruption to electricity supply across Multan and several parts of South Punjab on Saturday with more than 200 feeders of the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) tripping across nine operational circles.
According to MEPCO sources,15 feeders in Multan Circle were affected while 40 feeders tripped in Khanewal Circle.
In Muzaffargarh Circle,16 feeders went out of service whereas four feeders were affected in Dera Ghazi Khan Circle.
The worst-hit areas were Rahim Yar Khan and Sahiwal circles,where 50 and 51 feeders respectively tripped, leading to power outages in multiple localities.
In Bahawalpur circle,34 feeders were affected, while 45 feeders were disrupted in Bahawalnagar circle.

MEPCO Chief Executive Engineer,Gul Muhammad Zahid directed field staff to closely monitor restoration efforts and ensure early resumption of electricity supply.
Chief Engineer (O&M) Muhammad Shehzad Raee was supervising the situation from the Power Control Center,according to official sources.
The company instructed all line staff to strictly observe safety protocols during repair work and begin restoration immediately after improvement in weather conditions.
