According to police, the victim, 38-year-old Rakhshanda Bibi, had married 24-year-old Umer Shahzad a few months ago, and the couple had been residing in a rented house in Sabri Street. Investigators said the marriage had reportedly been marked by frequent disagreements and strained relations.

The case came to light after the victim’s sister, Farah Rahman, informed police that tensions between the couple had persisted for some time.

She alleged that an argument erupted between the husband and wife on Wednesday, during which Umer Shahzad allegedly strangled Rakhshanda Bibi to death following a heated exchange of words.

Police shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Taxila, where an autopsy was conducted before the body was handed over to the family for burial. The nominated suspect has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
