Woman dies, man critically injured in house fire

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) A woman died and a man sustained critical burn injuries when a fire broke out in a house near Nawab House in Liaquat Colony on Chakri Road, Rawalpindi, on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, a call regarding the house fire was received and four emergency vehicles, including two ambulances and two fire brigade vehicles, were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue teams reached at the location promptly; however, the fire had already been extinguished before emergency responders arrived.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals were severely burned in the incident.

A woman succumbed to her burn injuries at the scene, while the injured person wa shifted to hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO), Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani has taken notice of an incident of fire erupted in house in Liaquat Colony.

According to police, the CPO sought a detailed report from the Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar and directed him to visit the scene to assess the situation.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the man allegedly set himself and the woman on fire.

Authorities stated that no evidence of an honour killing has emerged so far; however, investigations were being conducted to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
