Woman found dead in canal

BUREWALA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) A woman was found dead in a canal in the jurisdiction of Gaggo Mandi police station, officials said on Monday.

Police said that the deceased was identified as Rehana Ghaffar, a resident of Chak 139/EB, Arifwala.

Her body was recovered from a canal near Chak 217/EB and later handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities.

According to preliminary investigation, Rehana had been living with her parents along with her children following her divorce. Police said she allegedly jumped into the canal a day earlier after becoming distressed over personal circumstances related to the divorce.

Further investigation into the incident was underway.
