FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Two individuals, including a woman allegedly posing as a doctor, have been arrested after a young woman reportedly died due to medical negligence during a childbirth-related procedure at a private healthcare facility in the city.

A police spokesperson said on Sunday that authorities took immediate action after receiving reports that Hira, 29, lost her life following treatment allegedly administered by an unqualified practitioner at Abdul Shakoor Trust Hospital.

According to the spokesperson, Batala Colony police registered a case on the complaint of the deceased woman's brother, Basharat Ali, a resident of Chak No. 224-RB, Gulshan-e-Ali Town, and formally initiated legal proceedings against the accused.

The victim had reportedly been taken to the private hospital for childbirth-related treatment, where she was allegedly subjected to unauthorised and untrained medical practices.

Preliminary investigations indicate that her condition deteriorated shortly after she was administered an injection by the accused woman, identified as Abida Bibi. The patient reportedly became unconscious soon afterward and, despite efforts to save her life, succumbed to her condition.

Further evidence is being gathered, and additional legal action will be taken in light of the investigation findings.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said strict and indiscriminate action would continue against individuals endangering lives through illegal medical practices.

He stated that no one would be allowed to operate outside the law and that police would pursue all available legal measures against those found responsible for negligence or unauthorised medical treatment.
