LAHORE:

A woman has been reunited with her family after 22 years through the 'Mera Pyara' project of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), officials said.

According to a spokesperson, Shagufta went missing from Lahore in 2004 at the age of 12 due to mental health challenges and later lived at a welfare institution in Karachi while her family searched for her.

Her interview and childhood photo were shared on social media by the 'Mera Pyara' team, after which her sister recognised her in the video. Following legal formalities, including DNA testing by relevant authorities, Shagufta was officially handed over to her family.
