Women Parliamentary Caucus Balochistan Leadership condemns acid attack on female doctor

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Balochistan, led by Chairperson and Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola, along with members Shahida Rauf, Farah Azeem Shah, and other parliamentarians, has strongly condemned the acid attack on a female postgraduate doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta.

The WPC leadership denounced the incident in the strongest possible terms, describing it as a grave violation of human dignity and an unacceptable form of violence against women. Expressing deep sorrow and concern, they emphasized that such acts not only harm the victim but also create fear and insecurity within society.

The Caucus Chairperson and Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola, highlighted the shared responsibility of the state and society to ensure a safe, secure, and dignified working environment for women doctors, healthcare professionals, and working women across the province.

They appreciated the Chief Minister of Balochistan’s immediate intervention, including the arrangement of an air ambulance to transfer the victim to Karachi for specialized medical care, calling it a commendable step to safeguard her life and ensure access to advanced treatment.

The WPC urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, stressing that effective action against perpetrators is essential to prevent similar incidents in the future. They also called for the implementation of existing laws and policies to prevent violence against women, alongside strengthened security measures in hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The Caucus expressed full solidarity with the victim and her family, conveyed best wishes for her swift recovery, and reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating all forms of violence, harassment, and discrimination against women.

They also praised the courageous actions of Abdul Razzaq Tarakai, whose timely intervention played a critical role in assisting the victim immediately after the attack, describing his bravery as a reflection of the highest values of humanity and public service.
