Work underway in eight villages in Lodhran

LODHRAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) A meeting on Punjab Rural Municipal Services was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf, where progress on key rural development projects was reviewed.

The meeting focused on the “Model Village Project” and the Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Planning) and Deputy Director Development Hafiz Muhammad Zafar, Assistant Director Planning Atiq-ur-Rehman, along with other relevant officials, attended the session.

During the briefing, officials informed that work was underway in eight villages under the Model Village Project, including water supply systems, drainage, wastewater treatment, children’s parks, and street lighting.

The total cost of the project was Rs904 million, with Rs182 million allocated for the current fiscal year.

It was further shared that the World Bank-funded Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project has a total cost of Rs2,300 million. Work has been completed in six villages of Tehsil Kahror Pacca, while development activities were ongoing in five additional villages.

Addressing the meeting, DC Muhammad Ashraf emphasized the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life in rural areas alongside urban centers. He directed officials to ensure that all development schemes were completed within the stipulated timeframe and according to high-quality standards, adding that timely provision of essential services to the public was top priority.
