RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The World Peace Jirga Programme (WPJP) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability and national unity at a meeting held at the Rawalpindi Press Club on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Raaitullah Khan (Khan Baba), Chairperson Women Peace Jirga Programme Sadia Khan, Director Overseas Muhammad Iqbal, President District Karak Mohit Khan, General Secretary District Karak Muhammad Shoaib and Coordinator Women Wing Rawalpindi Division Shameem Akhtar.

The participants paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his services and said his leadership was a matter of pride for the nation.

They said Pakistan was playing a positive role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy at the global level and reiterated that the peaceful resolution of conflicts remained key to global stability.

The speakers highlighted the role of the traditional jirga system in resolving disputes through dialogue, wisdom and mutual understanding.

The organization also announced an international outreach programme under which its delegations would visit the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States from June to August to engage with overseas Pakistanis and international partners.

They said the visits would include participation in a donor conference aimed at mobilising support for peace, development and humanitarian initiatives in Pakistan.

The leadership also expressed the intention to nominate Field Marshal Asim Munir for the Nobel Peace prize in recognition of his contributions to peace and stability.

An oath-taking ceremony of newly appointed office-bearers was also held on the occasion.
