World Population day observed in Astore with call for responsible parenthood, sustainable development

ASTORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2026) On the occasion of World Population Day, the District Population Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), organized a dignified ceremony in Astore.

The event was attended by officials from various government departments, social figures, teachers, students, civil society representatives, and a large number of citizens.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the significance of World Population Day and observed that rapid population growth has become a major global challenge, placing increasing pressure on healthcare, education, employment, food security, the environment, and natural resources.

They stressed that balanced population growth and the development of a healthy society require effective family planning, improved maternal and child healthcare, women's empowerment, and greater public awareness.
