WSSC-DIKhan intensifies Muharram arrangements, ensures cleanliness along procession routes

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Dera Ismail Khan has intensified cleanliness and drainage operations across the city as part of its comprehensive arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to officials, special teams have been deployed to ensure cleanliness along the routes of Muharram processions and at venues where religious gatherings (Majalis) will be held. Despite the public holiday, WSSC staff continued their duties to provide a clean, safe and hygienic environment for mourners and the general public.

As part of the ongoing campaign, desilting of drains and sewerage lines is being carried out in different parts of the city to improve drainage and prevent water accumulation.

The removed silt is being promptly transported and disposed of to minimize inconvenience for residents.

In addition, a dedicated WSSC team is engaged in trimming roadside bushes and vegetation to ensure smooth movement of processions and enhance visibility along the designated routes.

A WSSC spokesperson said the company was committed to facilitating mourners during Muharram and ensuring the successful implementation of all sanitation-related arrangements. He said field staff were working round the clock to maintain cleanliness standards and address any civic issues on a priority basis.

The spokesperson added that all necessary measures would remain in place throughout Muharram to provide a better environment and uninterrupted municipal services to citizens.#
