PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) successfully completed three-day Eid-ul-Azha sanitation operation wherein more than 14,000 tons of waste were collected from 42 union councils, sprayed with a layer of soil, lime and disposed.
For disinfection and odour removal, collection points, roads and streets were washed with chlorine and rose water solution and then sprayed with lime.
Provincial Minister for Local Government, Meena Khan Afridi officially announced the completion of the operation in Peshawar and the province at the closing ceremony held here on Friday.
Secretary Local Government Zafarul islam, CEO Yasir Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah, ADC Asghar Soorani and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The provincial minister said that more than the target of 50,000 tons of waste up to 120,000 tons waste was collected.
The operation in Peshawar was exemplary, which everyone is praising, the staff sacrificed Eid to serve the people, and the service to the people will continue.
The Eid cleaning operation was supervised by Chief Executive Officer WSSP, Yasir Ali Khan, in which more than four thousand personnel participated, eight hundred small and large vehicles were collected, 16 collection points were allocated for collecting waste from where the waste brought from the streets and transferred to the dumping site by large vehicles.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The water supply staff was also present on duty, cells were active to resolve complaints, dozens of complaints were redressed during the three days of Eid.
Provincial Minister Meena Khan Afridi, while visiting different areas of the city on Eid, reviewed the operation and said that arrangements had been made to dispose waste across the province and excellent arrangements have been made to keep Peshawar clean.
The operation was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, CEO WSSP Yasir Ali Khan and officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Secretary distributed gifts to the staff and eco-friendly bags to the people. The Chief Secretary said that three districts will be rewarded for good cleanliness on Eid, cleanliness operation and monitoring was carried out across the province. The Chief Secretary also announced an additional salary for the staff.
