Youm-e-Ashura observed with religious solemnity in Attock

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Youm-e-Ashura was observed with religious solemnity in Attock, as in other parts of the country, with several Alam and Zuljannah processions taken out across the district to commemorate the supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions at Karbala.

The main Alam and Zuljannah procession was taken out from Imambargah Hussainia Kamalpur Syedan, Attock, and concluded peacefully at Karbala Haleem Shah at around 4:00 p.m. Several small processions also joined the main procession during its route.

Under the supervision of Sipah-e-Abbas, Namaz-e-Zohrain was offered at Fateh Jang Chowk. DC Rao Atif Raza, DPO Sardar Mavarhan Khan, AC Muhammad Arif Qureshi, ADCG Aneel Saeed, SDPO Illyas Baig, and other district administration officers remained present and monitored the procession.

Strict security arrangements were made by police and other law enforcement agencies, while entry routes of the processions were closely monitored. The mourners remained disciplined throughout the procession.

Sabeels of water, tea, milk, and food were arranged along the procession routes for the mourners. Ambulances and paramedical staff from DHQ Hospital Attock and Rescue 1122 were also deployed to provide medical assistance to the participants.

According to police sources, 70 Majalis were held and 49 Alam-o-Zuljannah processions were taken out across five tehsils of Attock district on Youm-e-Ashura. All processions concluded peacefully.
