ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi on Thursday said young artists were playing a vital role in promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through contemporary artistic expression, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting emerging talent and encouraging creative dialogue through national platforms.
He expressed these views while inaugurating “ZAMO’S,” a solo exhibition by emerging visual artist Zamar Shahid at Gallery No.6 of the National Art Gallery, organized by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The minister, accompanied by Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, Director General PNCA, attended the opening ceremony along with artists, students, and members of the cultural community.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister appreciated the creative vision and technical excellence reflected in the artworks of Zamar Shahid. He said PNCA would continue to provide opportunities for emerging artists and support initiatives that promoted innovation, creativity, and cultural exchange.
The exhibition showcases a compelling body of work exploring themes of tradition, innovation, and cultural identity.
Originally from Balochistan, Zamar Shahid was a Fine Arts graduate from BUITEMS and was recognized for blending classical miniature painting aesthetics with contemporary artistic experimentation.
Her work introduced unique techniques including canvas floral, tear and fire, and engineering painting, demonstrating both conceptual depth and technical mastery. Among the highlights were intricate gold-leaf miniature artworks portraying world mosques, reflecting precision, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to cultural heritage.
Zamar Shahid’s work has been exhibited at national and international platforms and has received appreciation for originality and artistic vision. She was the recipient of the Maymar-e-Watan Award and has also been awarded an Active Citizenship Certificate by the British Council.
The inauguration ceremony was held at PNCA’s National Art Gallery in the presence of art enthusiasts and members of the cultural fraternity.
The exhibition would remain open to the public until May 14 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
