Zero-Waste Eid drive gains momentum

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) The Islamabad district administration on Thursday continued its large scale Zero Waste cleanliness operation across the Federal capital on the second day of Eid ul Azha, ensuring the swift collection and disposal of sacrificial waste through a coordinated sanitation strategy.

According to the district administration, sacrificial remains were being collected from residential areas and transported to designated dumping trenches under an integrated waste management mechanism aimed at maintaining cleanliness and public hygiene throughout the Eid holidays.

Senior officials remained in the field to monitor operations and address public complaints in real time. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has also been personally overseeing the citywide operation through real time monitoring, while officials confirmed that all complaints received on the first day of Eid had been resolved successfully.

The administration stated that 185 complaints were received on helpline 1334 during the second day of Eid, of which 120 were addressed immediately, while action on the remaining 65 complaints was underway.

Relevant officers have been directed to ensure prompt response and uninterrupted field coordination.

Under the supervision of assistant commissioners, sanitation activities were continuing at union council level without disruption. Authorities were also conducting visits to graveyards in different areas to ensure cleanliness and proper waste management.

To guarantee strict implementation of the Zero Waste policy, Additional Deputy Commissioner General and other senior officials have been inspecting various localities, while a third-party inspection mechanism had also been activated to monitor sanitation standards at union council level.

Assistant commissioners were meeting residents in the field to gather direct public feedback, while the Deputy Commissioner had instructed all officers to remain present in the field throughout the three days of Eid to ensure timely disposal of waste and immediate redressal of complaints.
