1,080 cops perform security duty on 9th Muharram

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) More than 1,080 police officers and personnel have been deployed to provide security on the occasion of 9th Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to an official press release issued by the district police office here, on the 9th Muharram-ul-Haram, a total of 30 processions and 77 Majalis were held across the district.

The police spokesman said that one procession and one Majlis have been classified under Category A while two Majalis have been placed under Category B. He added the remaining processions and Majalis have been classified under Category C.

He further said that more than 1,080 police officers and personnel have been deployed to provide security for the events pertaining to Muharram-ul-Haram. Strict monitoring, checking, and comprehensive security arrangements are being ensured for all Majalis and processions, he said. The district police, Special Branch Punjab Police, and other law-enforcement agencies are maintaining close coordination and communication. He concluded that all available resources are being utilized to promote religious harmony, peace, and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram.
