1,500 litres of cold drinks found unfit for human destroyed

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched a major crackdown against the sale of substandard and unsafe cold drinks in Kallar Syedan, confiscating and destroying around 1,500 litres of beverages found unfit for human consumption.

According to a spokesperson, the operation was conducted against a cold drink supplier located on Kallar Syedan Road.

Food safety teams collected samples of the beverages from the site and sent them to a laboratory for testing.

Laboratory reports later confirmed that the drinks were substandard and hazardous to human health.

Following the findings, the PFA took immediate action and destroyed the contaminated beverages worth approximately Rs 300,000. Authorities also registered a case against the supplier for selling unsafe and poor-quality drinks.

The PFA spokesperson said ensuring the provision of safe and quality food to citizens remains the authority’s top priority, adding that strict action against those endangering public health will continue without discrimination.

Citizens were urged to report complaints related to food and beverages through the PFA’s helpline 1223 for prompt action.
