1 dead, 6 injured as Hiace plunges into canal near Chiniot

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) A speeding Hiace fell into the Wala Link Canal on Saturday near Tarkhana Wala on Sahiwal Road in Lalian tehsil after a tire burst, prompting a swift Rescue 1122 response with two ambulances and a motorbike.

According to rescue sources, the Rescue teams recovered all passengers and the vehicle from the water.

The crash killed 45-year-old Nasr Hussain of Faisalabad. Six others were hurt, including Aram (30), Muhammad Akram (32), a 7-year-old boy Muhammad Abdullah, Naseem (45), 13-year-old Abdullah, and Nadia (38), all Faisalabad residents traveling from Faisalabad toward Joharabad via Lalian.

Four injured received first aid at the scene, while two injured and the body were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
