12 murderers arrested, Rs. 11 million recovered, 17 kidnap victims rescued: DPO Murree

Muree/Rawalpindi, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Raza Tanveer Sipra, on Monday said that Murree Police achieved a 90 percent success rate against serious crimes during this year.

Addressing a press conference here, the DPO revealed that police arrested 12 suspects in murder cases, rescued 17 kidnap victims (including 2 children and 15 women), and recovered stolen assets worth over Rs. 11 million, which have been returned to their rightful owners. Major operations also led to the seizure of 40kg of hashish and the arrest of 36 proclaimed offenders.

The DPO detailed that crackdowns on financial crimes resulted in the recovery of 45 tolas of gold (valued at Rs. nine million) and Rs. two million in cash, alongside 18 cattle and seven mobile phones. To curb auto-theft, a specialized 'Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad' has been made functional.

Furthermore, the crackdown on illegal weapons led to the seizure of 18 pistols and four rifles, while dangerous criminals wanted for robbery and murder were brought to justice.

Regarding modern policing and public relief, Dr. Raza Tanveer shared that the Safe City Project in Murree was now complete, with surveillance cameras installed and the 15 emergency system directly linked to the Murree Control Room. To enhance accessibility, the 'Text to DPO' service for direct complaints and a 'Tourism App' for visitor guidance have been launched.

The DPO added that 17 'Khuli Kacheris' (Open Courts) were held across the district to resolve public grievances on the spot. To strengthen the force, the recruitment of 160 new personnel has been completed strictly on merit, ensuring that law and order remain a top priority at every level.
