1265 candidates submitted their nomination papers against 45 constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The 1265 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in total 45 Constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir including 12 refugee constituencies for the up comping Elections to be held on 27 July 2026 for Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly.

Some 1047 candidates have filed their nomination papers against 33 constituencies within the territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while as 218 candidates have filed their nomination papers against 12 Kashmiri Refugee seats.

According to AJK Election commission the securitny process in 45 constituencies have been completed and Election commission has rejected 41 nomination papers on legal grounds however, the appeal against the rejection would be submitted from 25th June to 28th June, 2026 for hearing the appeal and some 12 appeals have been submitted so far and have one more day to submit the appeals.

The hearing of appeals would be held from 29th June and 30th of June consecutively whereas,the hearing of appeals would be completed from 01 of July up to 02 July 2026 and the final decision would be issued on the same day(02 July, 2026).
